Practical advice on how to navigate in the ever changing world of advertising.

Success on Adsense - 5 Quick Tips

As you use Google's AdSense more and more often, you begin to learn from past mistakes and you slowly begin to see which of your actions have prevented your site from reaching its full potential. whether it's a site for cool gadgets, basketball shoes or snowmobiles rentals you're going to have to get aquatinted with AdWords so you don't run into common mistakes made by advertisers.

But an important part of making mistakes is telling people about them and teaching them how to avoid making the same mistake. So this is a list of the top five mistakes people make with AdSense.

You should read them carefully and see if any of them apply to your content. If they do, you need to stop and try to fix them as soon as possible.

The first big no-no that everyone seems to hit at one point or another has to do with rule violations. Google's AdSense is a great program, but it depends on you following a few set rules.

The most important thing is not to create "artificial clicks" by any means. Never click on your own links, never ask your friends or acquaintances to click on the links, and never let your content encourage visitors to click on the links. You run the risk of being permanently banned, and this will definitely hurt your earnings.

Failure to comply with Google's terms may result in the suspension of your AdSense account. And that's why this rule is certainly the most important of all. Because this is the difference between life and death.

The second thing that users often make mistakes about is a bad ad color palette. Often this happens because publishers are not knowledgeable enough to change the standard color palettes.

Others simply don't seem to be able to spend enough time changing these default color palettes. If you have bad ads that stand out, people are sure to be deterred from clicking, while you have something that is clearly visible and yet has a strong will.

Third, of course, the position of the ads is probably the key element that you should set correctly if you want to maximize your profits with AdSense. This has been noted in many places on the web, and Google is talking about it too. Google can provide you with statistics that illustrate which positions on your website work particularly well.

Fourth, banner ads are also a very bad idea if you use AdSense. Ads in 480x60 format are a safe way to drive away many people, as most internet surfers have developed a natural resistance to such ads.

And last, but obviously not least, it doesn't care about the site where the ads are placed. Because in the end it doesn't matter how cool the website itself is. If it doesn't have updated content and lots of daily visitors, it will probably never generate serious AdSense revenue for you.

So these are the top five things people do wrong when using the AdSense program. But if you don't want to express these problems in this way, here are the top five things you should do to make sure your AdSense ads are constantly bringing in these revenues.

Never violate Google policies. Don't make visitors make "artificial clicks" on your site, no matter who is doing it or why. Make sure that your ads are the right colors that match your site, and make sure that they are placed in the right places to attract as many customers as possible. Always try to avoid banner-like (480x60) ads when you don't really know what you're doing, and keep your site fresh and up-to-date.

With this in mind, you should be able to increase your AdSense revenue in no time.
